Sell your home faster: a few smart tips that matter
Updated: Sep 2
Selling a home quickly does not have to mean leaving money on the table. In my experience, the homes that attract the most attention early are the ones that feel well cared for, easy to picture living in, and properly prepared before they ever hit the market.
Here are a few of my favorite tips for helping your home stand out:
• Start with curb appeal. Buyers form an opinion before they walk through the front door. Freshen landscaping, pressure-wash walkways, add a welcoming mat, and make sure the entry feels clean and inviting.
• Declutter and depersonalize. Your family photos, collections, and extra furniture are part of what makes the house yours—but buyers need room to imagine it as theirs. Clear surfaces, closets, and countertops wherever possible.
• Make small repairs before listing. Loose hardware, burned-out bulbs, scuffed paint, dripping faucets, and squeaky doors can make buyers wonder what else has been neglected. Swap out old dated lighting fixtures. The little details add up.
• Focus on the rooms that sell the home. Kitchens, living areas, primary bedrooms, and bathrooms have a major impact. A few styling updates—fresh towels, a new doormat neutral bedding, simple accessories, and good lighting—can completely change how a space feels.
• Use professional-quality photos and marketing. Most buyers will see your home online before they see it in person. Great photography, thoughtful staging, and a strong listing description help create the kind of first impression that gets buyers through the door.
• Price strategically from the beginning. The first days on the market are often the most important. A well-prepared home priced appropriately for its location, condition, and competition is far more likely to generate strong interest quickly.
Preparing a home for sale is about more than cleaning up—it is about creating an emotional connection. When buyers can walk in and immediately feel at home, they are much more likely to make an offer.
If you are thinking about selling, I would be happy to help you create a personalized plan to prepare, and stage your home for the best possible first impression
